Matthew "Matt" Asad Mahoney is Elizabeth McCord's speechwriter. He is portrayed by Geoffrey Arend.

Matt was raised in Elmhurst, Illinois. He is half-Pakistani; his father is Irish.
Career[]
Matt worked as a speechwriter for Secretary of State Vincent Marsh until his death, and continued his tenure under Elizabeth McCord.
Matt had been forced to spy on Marsh by Russell Jackson, who attempted to make him spy on Elizabeth as well. He initially refused, as he suspected that the information he gave Jackson may have contributed to Marsh's death. After coming clean about the situation to Elizabeth, however, she told him to take the offer and become a double-agent for her, to which he agreed.
